TUESDAY TIDINGS for June 10, 2025

TUESDAY TIDINGS

YOUR CHURCH’S NEWSLETTER * Tuesday, June 10, 2025

Dear Church Family,

What an incredible week we’re having at Vacation Bible School! We had 88 children join us on the first day, and the excitement grew even more with 93 children attending on the second day! Our theme this year, “Hometown Nazareth,” has truly brought record-breaking results through the stories of Jesus’ childhood to life in ways that inspire the kids and fill our building with joy.

I am especially proud of the enthusiasm our children are showing for our VBS mission project. I challenged them to raise over $100 for orphans and foster children in Belarus, and today they surpassed that goal! Their generosity is shining a light on what it means to serve others and love our neighbors, even those across the globe.

And now, because they hit their target, tomorrow I will be *covered in slime*! I can’t wait to see the smiles on their faces—and maybe even a few shocked expressions from the adults! It’s a small price to pay to encourage a heart for giving and to celebrate God’s faithfulness in the lives of these kids.

Thank you to all the volunteers, parents, and church members who have made this VBS possible through your time, prayers, and support. Your commitment enables us to create life-changing experiences for our children and the community.

Please continue to pray for our VBS team and the children as we conclude the week. Let’s continue to plant seeds of faith that will grow for years to come!

With a heart full of gratitude (and a head full of slime),
Pastor David

A Garden of Peace and Beauty

Take a moment to pause and appreciate a truly special corner of our church grounds—the Memorial Garden.
Marty Robert’s did a wonderful job selecting and planting these beautiful flowers for the memorial garden and I wanted to make sure everyone knew that and stops to admire this peaceful spot.
Blessings,
Gail Williamson

Make a Difference for Kids in Belarus!

Spring of Revival is on a mission to equip 50 children in Greben—a small village in southern Belarus, near the Ukrainian border—with backpacks and school supplies. These kids face incredible hardships, as most families survive on just $200 a month, barely enough for food.

For years, Spring of Revival has been a beacon of hope, ensuring these children have the essentials they need for school. Now, we need your help to continue this life-changing work!

You can make an impact by giving online to “Belarus Missions” or writing in the memo line of your check.

Every gift brings hope. Dziakuj! Thank you!

A Caring Visitor provides visitation and /or communication to our church family members who are home-bound or are in Assisted Living or Nursing/Rehabilitation facilities.  For more information or to receive an application, contact Janet Westlake, Director of Missions and Community Outreach, by calling 352-383-2005 or janet@mtdorafumc.org

🕵️‍♀️ “The Case of the Vanishing Shuffle Boarders”
A Hilarious Mystery in Five Suspiciously Fit Steps – the Epilogue

With hearts pounding, the crew rushes through the doors of FUMC Mount Dora—expecting the unexpected. But what they find is beyond imagination!

“Sandy?! What have you done?” Bob gasped.

“I’ve done nothing but keep everyone moving and offer FREE, no-floorwork FUN & FITNESS!” Sandy grinned. “And guess what? They love it!”

Sandy happily counted, “1, 2, 3…”

Sure enough, there was Doris, stretching like she hadn’t in decades. Mildred was moving like a champion. And Frank? He had more pep in his step than ever before.
The shuffle boarders exchanged glances. Perhaps the court could wait. They dropped their pucks, grabbed some water, and joined in. The exercise class wasn’t just a mystery—it was a revelation!
So spread the word: No fees, no floorwork—just FUN and FITNESS every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday starting at 9:00 AM in Friendship Hall!
And if you ever lose a shuffle boarder, check FUMC Mount Dora first. They might just have ditched the Labyrinth of Mush and are having too much fun to come back!
