COVID-19 Update 3-24-20

Greetings Church Family,

We are now a couple of weeks into our “new normal.” At this point we are anticipating not being able to gather for worship or have any meetings at the church through the month of April. If things clear up before then we will gladly change these plans. But for now, we have a new normal. We will continue to worship online together and that means for Palm Sunday and Easter as well – this will be a first for all of us! In an effort to help stay connected with one another, we are asking for your help with two things:

  • Short videos (15 to 30 seconds) of children marching around with palms cut from your yard;
  • Short videos (under 60 seconds) of a special Easter memories – from your life.

Additionally, we have begun to offer online and interactive “live” class meetings for Sunday School and Bible Studies. If you or your group are interested in connecting and learning together in this way, please contact Janet Westlake at janet@mtdorafumc.org. Our Executive Committee and Church Council will be having online meetings in the coming days as well.

We have a great staff at the church and everyone is pitching in to adapt to this new way of being and doing church. Feel free to contact any one of us should you have a concern or suggestion. The office hours are 10-2 Monday-Thursday and our emails are listed on the church website.

I close with the words from Psalm 57:1 (NIV) “Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me; for in you my soul takes refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed.”

The Peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you,

Pastor Gary
