14 When Jesus entered Peter’s house, he saw his mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever; 15he touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she got up and began to serve him.
Observation
Chapter 8 features 3 miracles. The last of these with Peter’s mother-in-law is often overlooked. What I observe here is the response of Peter’s mother-in-law after Jesus heals her. She serves him. Miracles are done for the benefit of God’s kingdom. Those who receive miracles can’t help but respond through service to God if they are a truly grateful for the healing that comes from God.
Application
One of the ways I best show my gratitude to God for the healing and salvation God brings is through service in Jesus’ name.
Prayer
Lord, thank you for the healing you bring. I want to show my gratitude by serving you and giving you the honor due your name. In your Holy Name I pray. Amen.
