In Celebration of Pentecost 2024

Dear Friends in the Faith,

Thank you so much for your participation in the Vision 2030 strategic planning process so far. We began this process in September 2022. Over 30 members made a key decision to adopt a revised Mission, Vision, and Values statement on March 25, 2024.

Most recently close to 40 members have worked with experienced church consultant, Rev. Dr. John Wimberly, to develop goals and strategies to support this Mission, Vision, and Values statement.

During many “holy conversations” we have had in the last 18 months, I have been inspired to hear how the Spirit is speaking in our midst, and how you are earnestly listening to God’s guidance.

We have done it ourselves to the degree that God has allowed to own the work and to own the lessons of that work for ourselves. Yet, God has been with us every step of the way through the power and inspiration of the Holy Spirit. How fitting it is to come to an end of our strategic planning process, just before Pentecost Sunday (the day we celebrate the alighting of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles, described in Acts 2).

We are truly part of a sacred process that God is orchestrating through our collective efforts. One of my favorite hymns growing up was “I am the Church! You are the Church! We are the Church together! All of God’s people, all around the world. Yes, we’re the Church together!” We are embarking on a process of revitalization with the close of the planning process, and commencement of the implementation process. Together with you, I am ready to put my hand to the plow and my eyes facing forward (Luke 9:62).

I am so blessed to serve with church members that are perfectly positioned and gifted by the Lord for ushering Mt. Dora into a running start for her next 150 years of kingdom-building for the glory of God.

In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,

Pastor David
