Lent Devotion, Day 41 of 44

Read Mark 13: http://bible.oremus.org/?ql=484013769

Scripture:

So be on your guard; I have told you everything ahead of time.

Mark 13:23 NIV

Observation:

Jesus makes predictions about the destruction of Jerusalem. This event happened in 70 AD, forty or more years after Jesus spoke these words to his disciples.

Application:

Time is a precious commodity. We need to live our lives with urgency. We should also not take our lives or way of living for granted. There is a definite end of our lives and a definite end of the world. God determines the final outcome of either the world or our lives by his judgement and mercy. Seeking God’s approval is far more important than fleeting approval of the world.

Prayer:

Grant us, O Lord, eyes to see the fragility of the world in which we live and the lives that we lead. May we seek to live our lives with purpose and urgency. May we seek your approval. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.
