When are your services?
Our church has three services on Sunday mornings: two traditional services at 8:00am and 11:00am, and one more contemporary-styled service at 9:30am. We also have Wednesday night groups for children and youth at 6:00pm during the school year. Read more »
What’s this church about?
Mount Dora First United Methodist Church aspires to be a passionate community of believers that grows the faith of individuals, worships with purpose, and loves extravagantly. Established more than 140 years ago, our church has been around for as long as there’s been a Mount Dora. We love Jesus, and we love showing that love to everyone we meet. Read more »
What do I need to know before I come?
Nothing at all! Our doors are open to people of all faith walks and all spiritual backgrounds. Nobody is going to quiz you at the door or prod you about your beliefs. One of our ushers will hand you a bulletin as you enter, and that will have any information you’ll need. That said, we are members of the United Methodist Church (UMC), which has its own set of beliefs and practices. Read more »
What is your worship service like?
We have three services, each an hour long. Our Early and Late services are more traditional—we sing from the Hymnal with the accompaniment of the organ or our Celebration choir and our pastor wears traditional robes. Our Contemporary service offers a more modern worship style, with live music performed by our Praise Team band and the occasional movie clip or skit to create deeper understanding for the message. Which service has the shortest/easiest sermon?
Our minister teaches the same sermon at all three services. Though we sometimes have sermon series spanning several weeks, each sermon can stand on its own, so you won’t be lost if you don’t come every Sunday. We also livestream our Contemporary and Late Traditional services each week and archive those videos so you always have the opportunity to catch up. Check out our archives »
Which services have child care options?
The Contemporary and Late services have child care options with spiritual learning tailored to each age group. In fact, we have a wide variety of events, classes, and enrichment for every child, from toddlers to teens. Footprints Ministries introduces God’s story to families with children from birth to elementary school, while Barefoot Ministries strengthens the faith of teens and young adults.
What else is going on throughout the week?
More than you think. Our most popular weekday event is our Wonderful Wednesdays, with dinner and activities for children, youth and adults. On top of that, we regularly host Bible studies, classes, meetings, clubs, and outings. We keep each of these gatherings well-curated on our events calendar, so be sure to check it often!
