Our Initiatives

These are the efforts sponsored by either our church or the United Methodist Church as a whole. Through these ministries, we are able to reach those in need, not just in our church, or even in our community, but around the world.

Living Love »

Our volunteer movement that maximizes our Church’s commitment of service to its community.

Barefoot Scholarship Fund

The college years are some of the most pivotal for many young Christians. As they strike out on their own for the first time, many either renew their faith or begin to turn away from it. We offer annual scholarships to our congregation’s college students who plan to continue attending a church and serving the Lord. Donations to this fund are split among all accepted applicants.

Florida United Methodist Children’s Home »

The Children’s Home cares for children who have been victims of abuse, abandonment, or neglect. The home provides shelter, food, clothing, academic supplies and opportunities, and enrichment activities in order to ensure each child can have a normal, carefree childhood. Our church supports this home throughout the year through financial assistance and donating gifts and supplies.

Florida UMC Global Missions »

Assist missionaries and mission efforts in Angola, Cuba, and Haiti. Through the Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church, these groups build homes and schools, empower communities, and preach God’s word in marginalized areas.

Prayer Blanket Ministries

Cover our members in prayer. Members of this ministry pray over a purchased or handmade blanket and sign a card. We then give these blankets to members who are hospitalized or homebound to surround them with God’s love and support.

Prayer Chain »

Our prayer chain is made up of many people who have committed themselves to praying daily for the needs of our church and its members.

United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) »

When disasters happen, UMCOR is often one of the first response teams on the scene. The group provides short-term humanitarian relief such as food, hygiene supplies, shelter, access to medical and spiritual care, and other basic needs to ease human suffering. This year, UMCOR is providing relief to the Bahamas in the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian. Our church provides relief kits to aid their efforts.

SAY It With Love

Our annual initiative to Send A Youth (SAY) to Warren Willis United Methodist Camp. Our Footprints and Barefoot students strengthen their faith faith at this week-long, overnight camp each summer. Donations toward the SAY It With Love campaign go toward reducing the cost of each student’s admission, opening the opportunity to many children who may have been unable to afford it otherwise.

Vacation Bible School (VBS)

Part of our VBS spiritual outreach efforts is to donate items to people in need. In the past, for instance, VBS has purchased library books for orphans in Africa, chickens for families in developing countries, and water wells in Angola. In 2016, the group created Blessing Bags to give to the homeless.
