TUESDAY TIDINGS for June 18, 2024

TUESDAY TIDINGS

Pastor’s Corner

He swore an oath in the name of the one who lives forever and ever, who created the heavens and everything in them, the earth and everything in it, and the sea and everything in it. He said, “There will be no more delay.    – Revelation 10:6 (NLT)

Dear First United Methodist Church,

I am writing to you from the Marquand Chapel at the Yale Divinity School. Chapel worship has been the best part of the learning here at the Leader’s Way. That, and the fellowship with other clergy and lay leaders. I met one pastor who preaches 4 different services in 4 different languages: English, Kreyol, French, and Spanish. Another pastor ministers to those of Arab descent in Dearborn, Michigan.

It is inspiring to hear how the Holy Spirit raises leaders for ministry all around the world.

I want to share with you some good news. Last night, the Church Council adopted a strategic plan that will bring us into 2030.

All leaders agreed the time is now to make some significant changes and adjustments to meet the challenges of sharing the Gospel in the 21st century.

The words of the Charles Wesley hymn, “Come Now Sinners to the Gospel Feast” come to mind for our sense of purpose and urgency to do the work God has called us to do:

“This is the time, no more delay!
This is the Lord’s accepted day.
Come thou, this moment, at his call,
and live for him who died for all.”

I look forward to sharing more updates about the Lord’s call to implement a plan to help this church live into God’s preferred future.

Grace and Peace,

Pastor David
