Update from Pastor Gary

September 6, 2020

Dear Church Family,

Thank you so much for all of the cards, letters, emails, texts, and Facebook messages. Your expressions of love for us have been amazing and have brought us great encouragement. Though we miss being with you, these expressions have kept us feeling close at heart.

Of course, we also thank you for your continued prayers. Most of the time I am feeling well and am adjusting to doing less and at a slower pace – which is easier said than done!

I have been fortunate to be able to start taking the medications that slows the rate of IPF’s advancement. I am working on getting necessary medical testing completed and I am looking forward to the formal transplant evaluation process later this month. Hopefully, we should be able to complete this process by the first of October. I will keep you informed as things progress.

As many of you know, learning to navigate the medical and insurance worlds has a steep learning curve and just when you think you understand it, a new wrinkle comes along! It requires a delicate balance of being patient and pushy, of being understanding and unrelenting.

We continue to trust in the goodness of God and the power of God’s love. We thank you for your continued prayers. May God richly bless each of you as well as the mission and ministry of Mount Dora First United Methodist Church.

Peace be with you,
Gary
