B. Scripture
23Then if anyone says to you, “Look! Here is the Messiah!” or “There he is!”—do not believe it. 24For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and produce great signs and omens, to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.
C. Observation
Many people in Jesus’ day claimed to be Messiah. In our day and age, people still claim to be saviors.
D. Application
Who is telling me what I want to hear for their own purpose and gain? Is their message contrary to the Gospel?
E. Prayer
Dear Lord, help me listen to your voice above the many voices clamoring for my attention, telling me what I want to hear. In your Holy Name I pray. Amen.
II. Day 48
A. Reading
Matthew 24:26-51
https://bible.oremus.org/?ql=512228525
B. Scripture
43But understand this: if the owner of the house had known in what part of the night the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and would not have let his house be broken into. 44Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an unexpected hour.
C. Observation
One must always be ready for the return of Jesus.
D. Application
I should live my life with a sense of purpose and urgency because none of us is guaranteed another day or hour.
E. Prayer
Lord Jesus, help me stay awake and alert. Help me live my life with a purpose for your sake. In your Holy Name I pray. Amen.
III. Day 49
A. Reading
Matthew 25:1-13
https://bible.oremus.org/?ql=512388625
B. Scripture
13Keep awake therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.
C. Observation
We must not only be ready for Jesus’ return, we also live our lives in such a way we will please and honor God.
D. Application
I can honor God by sharing my light with others, being engaged in sharing the light of Christ until he comes again.
E. Prayer
Lord, I desire to shine my light before others through love and mercy. May the offering of my life be pleasing to you. In Your Holy Name. Amen.
