Lent Devotion, Day 40 of 44

Read Mark 12: http://bible.oremus.org/?ql=483925960

Scripture:
Haven’t you read this passage of Scripture: “ ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; Mark 12:10 NIV https://mark.bible/mark-12-10

Observation:
This verse is a quotation of Psalm 118:22. One of the many Old Testament prophecies about Jesus. Jesus points us directly to how God is starting a new thing through him. Jesus equates himself with the owner’s son in the parable of the tenants just before this reference to the Psalms. The chief priests and Pharisees may have rejected Jesus, but God has a new foundation for a new Temple.

Application:
I want to make Jesus the foundation of my life. I realize it is going to cost me friends and influence at times. However, there is nothing I want more than to be a part of the new thing that God is doing.

Prayer:
Dear Jesus, I want you to be the foundation of my life. Give me courage when my faith costs me friends or influence. To God be the glory. Amen.
