Pastor’s Corner
Dear First United Methodist Church of Mt. Dora,
I wanted to share with you some positive updates.
First, the Church Council adopted the recommended goals from the Vision 2030 Goals Team yesterday evening.
You can find a detailed copy of the goals in the following link:
|
|
Secondly, we received a $335,000 donation to help us achieve some of these goals.
Use of this donation will include the following:
1. Recruit and retain more musicians for the praise band.
2. Modernize the Thrift Shop building.
3. Make Friendship Hall more accessible.
4. Support local and global missions in our community.
The work we are doing in listening to the guidance of the Holy Spirit bears fruit for the Kingdom. I would like to invite you to help brainstorm some strategies for fulfilling these goals on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at 4:30 pm in Friendship Hall.
Grace and Peace,
David

Did you see smoke yesterday? |
|
|
A fire erupted in a travel trailer behind these houses causing three fire trucks (this picture was taken right before the third fire truck arrived), an ambulance, and two police units to be dispatched in front of the church office. Many people stopped by to see if it was our church. The houses were spared, and no one seems to have been injured, but it was quite a morning yesterday.
