Epiphany 2022, Gospel of Matthew, Day 39 of 58

Gospel of Matthew, Day 39 of 58

Reading

Matthew 20:1-16

Scripture

15 Don’t I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous?’

Observation

The workers received the same reward for their labor morning, mid-day, afternoon, or evening. Grace is grace. It is for all God’s children at any point in their lifespan or in the course of history.

Application

It is not how you start, it is how you finish in the faith that matters. That being said, the Psalmist reminds us, “I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked” (Psalm 84:10). A reward for lifelong service to God is simply being in lifelong service to God. There is no greater privilege to me. No matter how old or young you are, I want to invite you to serve in the Vineyard of Our Vinedresser (John 15:1); to serve in the court of our King (

Prayer

O Generous and Most Gracious God, forgive me for my lack of gratitude for the extent of your mercy. Thank you for the opportunity to serve you. In your Holy Name I pray. Amen.
