Lent Devotion, Day 32 of 44

Read Mark 4: http://bible.oremus.org/?ql=482994953

Scripture:

13 Then Jesus said to them, “Don’t you understand this parable? How then will you understand any parable?

Observation:

The parable of the sower is the only parable to which Jesus gives an interpretation of his own words. The parable, as Jesus interprets it, focuses on the obstacles of living by Jesus’ teachings. The goal is to not only be hearers of the word, but doers as well. We should not listen to Jesus’ parables, but our lives should be a parable that teaches about the goodness of the Kingdom of God.

Application:

I want to help others understand the teachings of Jesus better. I do not want to be an obstacle to their learning or growth. I can do this by listening more, and talking less. I can do this more through kind actions.

Prayer:

Lord, help me to be a parable on your Kingdom. May I be someone who promotes growth in your name. Forgive me where I have been a barrier to the growth of others. In your name we pray. Amen.
