Scripture: ‘Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” ‘ – Matthew 22:37-40
Observation: The first 4 of the Ten Commandments focus on our relationship with God; the last 6 focus on our relationship with neighbor.
Application: The spirit of the law is love. Cultivating love in my heart is essential to my obedience to the will of God.
Prayer: Lord, teach me to love the way you love your creation and your creatures. Thank you for knitting the universe together in love with love as the law that creates order in the cosmos. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
